Azeroth Interrupted: Happy Father's Day!

Today is Father's Day, so I thought I would pay tribute in no particular order to my top WoW-related Father/Child relationship.


Micah & Ezra: Micah & Ezra's story of playing WoW together and strengthening their friendships, and helping Ezra deal with the devastating effects of having a brain tumour truly inspirational. The fact that Blizzard made Ezra's WoW dreams come to fruition is even more inspiring. I hope that Micah and Ezra can continue to play together for many years to be. Happy Father's Day, Micah!


Rob Pardo and daughter Sydney: Rob Pardo is the Vice President of Game Design at Blizzard and plays WoW (among other games) with his daughter, Sydney. Talk about the importance of balancing real life with WoW, Rob says that playing with his daughter has taught him to look at the pure fun aspects of the game to round out his overall perspective. Happy Father's Day, Rob!


Stan and Randy from South Park: Whose eyes didn't cry when Randy's character was mortally injured when he handed the The Sword of a Thousand Truths (The Sword of A Thousand Truths) to Stan's? This is a great illustration of a father-son relationship that WoW has revealed. Randy Happy Father's Day!


Siscotoquark and Dragonflie: They may have started playing Final Fantasy VII together, but their first MMO is WoW. Their father (Siscotoquark) and son (Dragonflie) not only play together and play together, but Siscotoquark is the Druid Class Leader in the guild of which his son is the Guild Leader. WOW DAD I think that many fathers would have a hard time being under the the control of their sons but not in this instance. Happy Father's Day, Siscotoquark!


Emme and Onnix: This is Emme and Onnix, my husband. Emme was three months old when this photo was taken. Onnix would hold Emme when she was small and not mobile. I will always be grateful that he didn't play WoW while I was in labor. Ok He did however, I was in labor at the time. I was doing everything to distract myself from the contractions however, he didn't leave me to play WoW. I think he played when he went home to feed the cats while I was in the hospital, but he had to announce the birth of his baby, didn't he? Onnix, Happy Father's day!


Terenas and Arthas: Even though this couple was not the most pleasant, it did help the Warcraft plot to progress quite well. When Warcraft III came out, a coworker played the cutscenes of his collector's edition during breaks. I had played Diablo and Diablo II before, but after watching Arthas strike down his father in that stunning and emotional cutscene, I changed from a Blizzard game player to a total Blizzard fangirl. I still get a thrill when I run through the throne's room to get to the Undercity. So be at peace this Father's Day, King Terenas Menethil -- we will all be able to remember your tragic demise as a noble sacrifice to our gaming enjoyment.
