Why We Love Best Self Emptying Robot Vacuum (And You Should Also!)
The Best Self Emptying Robot Vacuum

The best self emptying robot vacuum has a base that holds the equivalent of a month's worth and automatically empty. It also makes a detailed map of your home and allows you to label rooms as well as create "no-go" zones.

It has superior obstacle-avoiding capabilities, and it is safe from power cords and rogue socks.

iRobot Roomba s9+

This robot is among iRobot's premium models and it certainly performs well. It can easily move across different surfaces and is extremely effective in sucking dust, dirt and other debris up. It's also well-built and looks fantastic too.

The S9 is the latest model of iRobot's premium S Series line of robot vacuums and, as such, it boasts a handful of extra features that differentiate it from other models. The iRobot App can, for example, use the camera to create a map that assists the robot to navigate and clean efficiently.

It can also automatically return to the place where it left off when its battery gets depleted during a cleaning session and you don't need to waste time re-cleaning the same areas. You can set the timer to start and stop cleaning with an audio command, or through the iRobot App. This smart vacuum is able to clean in the dark!

Carpet Boost is another great feature. It provides the S9 more suction power when it comes into contact with carpeting, meaning it will pick up more dirt. This unit has a square-front design which allows it to get closer to walls and corners than previous round designs. But, be aware that this model isn't able to work well with shag or high-pile carpeting.

During our tests, we observed that the iRobot S9+ cleaned thoroughly and efficiently a variety of floor surfaces including hard and medium-pile carpets. It also worked well with laminate flooring, and vinyl floors. It did a good job of maneuvering around furniture and other objects, but it had issues with stairs, where it could crash into bookcases.

We liked the fact that the S9 automatically returns to its base to empty its trash bin when it's empty, which dramatically reduces hands-on maintenance needs. The dust bag is expected to last for around 30 loads or a month and a half. You'll need to replace the filter every few months (as suggested by iRobot). We've found that the iRobot S9+ doesn't get extremely loud when it's in use which makes it a good option for those living with kids or pets.

Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8

Designed to remove one of the most difficult tasks off your hands, robot vacuum cleaners do all the hard work of keeping carpeted and hardwood floors clear of the everyday dust. Some robot vacuum cleaners are able to be controlled by an app on your smartphone, while others come with mopping technology to bathrooms and kitchen flooring. They're a great solution for busy families, and they're becoming more affordable than ever. If you want top-of-the-line features in your robotic cleaner, you're going to be spending a little more.

The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid vacuum and mopping machine is an excellent choice for people who live in a multi-floored apartment. Dual motors provide it with incredible cleaning power, and the vacuum's 0.6l dustbin can store plenty of pet hair. The dustbin is able to be removed and emptied without fuss, which is useful since you'll have to do it often.

It's simple to set up as well, but I do recommend fully charging the X8 Hybrid before running it for the first time. Install the Eufy Home application and follow the directions to connect it to your WiFi network. The app will then help you create a map of your home. You can name the rooms, divide large areas into sub-rooms to make it easier to open-plan living and direct the X8 Hybrid towards specific areas that require cleaning at a specific time. Eufy's app is more intuitive and precise than other robots with similar scanning and mapping functions.

The X8 Hybrid has a great feature: you can turn on the mop or vacuum cleaner via voice thanks to its integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. This is a nice addition that makes the robot more hands-free, and it is very effective in our test house.

Like many robotic vacuums, the X8 Hybrid has some issues with floors that are bare. It is prone to miss pet hair and small objects, and it is prone to bump into things, like its own charger on the base for charging. It's also not as quiet and the whirring sound could be distracting as with other models.

Roborock V3S Pro

This robot doesn't have the same features as some of the more expensive ones we've tested, but it does cover the basics. It has a large dust bin which can hold a lot of dirt before needing to be empty. The mop and vacuum system is great for hard floors and carpets with low pile. It's also extremely quiet and we could watch television while it was cleaning without feeling like it was blasting us with noise.

Our test participants were extremely pleased with how easy the machine was to use and set up. They also appreciated the ability to clean all the messes from their flooring. It even did a pretty good job of picking up pet hair and messes on carpeting, but it wasn't as successful in tackling stubborn stuck-on stains. The users found the app to be user-friendly and intuitive, and they were able to program the vacuum to be cleaned on a regular basis to cut down on the amount they needed to do manually. It doesn't feature the ability to avoid objects or map technology, so it can't be sent to specific rooms or follow virtual borders (though magnetic boundaries are compatible).

Another model from iRobot's affordable line, the V3S Pro has some impressive features for the price. It was the best of all robotic vacuums in our tests when it comes to finding and avoiding obstacles and it's the best budget pick for those who want a cleaner self-emptying robotic vacuum that is able to handle pet hair and messes on both carpets with low pile and hardwood floors. It is also very quiet and comes with a large dust bin which can hold plenty of debris before it needs to be emptied.

The V3S Pro did not make it onto our top choices lists from reliable sources that test hands-on, but it was praised by Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews and The Ambient. They liked the ease of install and use, however they also noted that the battery life was short and it didn't manage to stay clear of some of the most difficult messes we put it through.

Roborock Q Revo

The Q Revo is an entry-level robot vacuum and mop that comes with a variety of features at a reasonable cost. You can avail many of the high-end features, like smart navigation and mapping, without spending a fortune. You can use voice commands via Alexa, Google Assistant or Apple Siri shortcuts for custom automations, and to start your cleaning process while you are away.

Roborock has put in the time to develop this smart cleaner. As a result, the product is incredibly well-built and feels like it was made with premium materials. Its base is sturdy and stable, with an integrated charging port for the battery. There's a docking station for the clean-water tank as well as the bins for dirty water on top. There's also a panel beneath the dock that houses an enclosed vacuum bag.

Once you pair your device with the app, you'll see a 2D or 3D map of your home. It will show the location of where your robot is in and the area it's cleaning. You can also create virtual barriers to keep your robot out of certain areas or clean only certain types of flooring. It's also able of adjusting its power settings based on what type of floor is being cleaned, as well as selecting the most effective method of cleaning.

Unlike many other robot vacuums like the Q Revo, it can lift up both of its mops while it's vacuuming to avoid staining your carpet fibres. In fact, it's the few vacuums on the market that can do this.

When mopping the Q Revo's 5500Pa suction powers can be enough to take out dust particles, strands of pet hair and other debris. The all-rubber brush is able to separate animal and human hair as it adapts to uneven surfaces.

The only drawback to this device is that it takes an extended time to empty and fill both the clean and dirty tanks. Luckily, floor vacuum robot can reduce the frequency of this by using the auto-empty feature that will automatically empty the container after a couple of days. There isn't an automatic reminder to examine the level of water at the dock.
