VVVVVV for 3DS is the best version of Terry's difficult platform game I've ever played. However, this is because I don’t have a good controller to control my computer.


As as I'm aware, the 3DS version is exactly like the PC release in every way. The identical C64-style graphics, with smiley-faces in monochrome against (optional) flashing geometric backgrounds and the same fully-explorable world of vast expanses of space, impossible mazes, and many spikes; the same brilliant chiptune soundtrack.


There are two main distinctions: the absence of a level editor (though Nicalis says it is considering adding one) and the flip side, 3D. It's the classic gauntlet, with physically difficult rooms that you ought to have played before. While the details of the nostalgia aspect are elusive to me (not being an avid C64 person) The style of gameplay is absolutely ideal for me it's an endless series of self-contained, games that require dexterity and foresight. Oh, and lots and lots of patience repeated failure.


Though the level editor isn't present but a collection of levels created by users is included in the download, such as the giant "Dimension 333333" by Sendy and a level by Minecraft creator Notch. Once you've completed the primary game and have collected all 20 "trinkets", you won't need to use the wizard powers that you apparently have in order to create new content.
